With the support of Pure Earth, GAHP has established the Global Lead Forum (GLF). The purpose of the Forum is to provide an open, global platform for knowledge-sharing and exchange by a wide variety of actors working on lead exposure, particularly in low- and middle-income countries. Open to anyone who is interested in presenting on their work or learning about initiatives worldwide, the Forum works to encourage cross-fertilization and awareness-raising on this issue.

The Forum was created as a platform to bring together a wide range of actors who are typically siloed from each other: academics, multilateral and bilateral donors, national ministries of health and environment, the UN system, professional organizations, NGOs, and the private sector. By providing a virtual space for knowledge exchange amongst stakeholders from a wide range of expertise and backgrounds, the Forum aims to build global awareness to address lead exposure in low- and middle-income countries.

The Forum meets online via Zoom once per quarter. Each session includes thematically-coherent presentations by different actors working to reduce lead exposure, with time for questions and discussion.

Forum activities are open to anyone who is interested in the issue of lead exposure in low- and middle-income countries. To receive updates and reminders about upcoming meetings, please sign up here. There are several benefits to participating in Forum activities. Forum meetings are an opportunity to share your work with a wide range of actors, listen to and learn from others working on related topics, and share ideas on key challenges and ways forward to reduce lead exposures.

Led by the Global Alliance on Health and Pollution, a network of international and national level agencies committed to a collaborative, multi-sectoral approach to address the global pollution crisis and the resulting health and economic impacts, the Forum is currently funded through a 3-year grant to Pure Earth from GiveWell.

How does the Global Lead Forum support achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals?2022-03-18T17:11:58+00:00

The Forum provides a platform for knowledge exchange on global lead exposure issues. Work to reduce deaths and illness from lead exposure directly supports the achievement of SDG Target 3.9: “By 2030, substantially reduce the number of deaths and illnesses from hazardous chemicals and air, water and soil pollution and contamination.”
